Northwest Flower & Garden Show!

February 26th, 2011 by KC Construction

We always look forward to this first taste of spring here in the great Northwest, especially after this winter that seemed to begin way back in November! I’d been saving my pennies to stock up on Oriental Lilies, and I even bought some Trilliums to tuck in under the blue spruce grove on our property.

These shows are always a great inspiration to us, and this year was no different. Recently we’ve been brainstorming ideas for garden structures and there were plenty of examples on display. Our favorite garden was entitled “A Day Well Spent” created by Christianson’s Nursery in Mount Vernon. It consisted of a weathered wood potting shed, rustic greenhouse, and backyard cold frame, all surrounded by green lawn and enough spring flowers and bulbs to make me long to be out in the garden again!

KC Construction is currently working on a garden suite that will include an 8’ fence (welcome to deer country), a 380 square foot greenhouse, 80 square foot chicken coop, cold frames, compost bins, raised garden planters and a pair of water features. Sound like something you might be interested it? Give us a call and we can discuss your options – from a small patio with planters on the sunny side of your house to grow some fresh tomatoes to a garden big enough to sustain the neighborhood like the one we’re working on now!
